Trim a Video Online

Cut the dead air off the front and back of a clip. Upload, set two points, download.

By using ReelNab you agree to the Terms. Download only content you have the right to use.

Most clips need the same thing: a couple of seconds gone from the front where you were still setting up, and a couple from the back where you reached for the phone. That is all this page does.

The cut is attempted as a straight copy first, which takes a second and leaves the picture untouched. Copying can only cut on a keyframe, so when the result would land more than half a second away from the point you asked for, the clip is re-encoded instead and the page tells you it did.

How to trim a video online

  1. 1

    Upload your clip

Drop an MP4, MOV or WEBM into the box, or tap it to pick a file. Nothing is sent until you press Process.

  2. 2

    Set start and end

Scrub the preview to find the moment, then type or nudge the two values in seconds.

  3. 3

    Download the cut

Press Process and save the trimmed MP4. Your upload is deleted as soon as it is ready.

Why use ReelNab

Lossless when it can be

A stream copy keeps the original picture and audio exactly as they were, and finishes in about a second.

Exact when it must be

If a copied cut would miss your point, the clip is re-encoded so the start is where you asked, and the page says so.

Nothing uploaded early

The preview plays from your own device. The file only leaves it when you press Process.

Audio kept

The sound track comes along untouched.

MP4, MOV, WEBM in

Output is always MP4, which is what phones and messengers expect.

Private

Files go into a private temp folder with a random name and are deleted within minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does trimming lose quality?

Not when the cut lands on a keyframe: the streams are copied untouched. When an exact cut needs re-encoding, the clip is encoded once at high quality and the page tells you.

Why is my cut a moment off?

A stream copy can only start at a keyframe, which may sit a second before the point you picked. If the gap is larger than half a second we re-encode instead so it lands exactly.

Can I cut out the middle?

Yes. Add several stretches on the timeline and they are joined in order into one clip. A joined cut is re-encoded once at high quality; a single stretch is copied without re-encoding where the file allows.

What is the largest file I can upload?

Up to 1 GB, and up to 60 minutes long.

Is the audio kept?

Yes. The audio track is carried over.

How long do you keep my file?

The upload is deleted the moment the trimmed copy is ready, and that copy goes about a minute after you download it.
