Crop Video to 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9

Reshape a clip for Reels, Shorts or a square feed post. Drag the frame, pick the stretches, never black bars.

By using ReelNab you agree to the Terms. Download only content you have the right to use.

A landscape clip posted to Reels or Shorts gets pillarboxed: your video shrinks into a strip with grey slabs above and below it. Cropping fixes that at the source, so the frame fills the screen.

This page only ever cuts. It takes the largest rectangle of the shape you chose out of the middle of your frame and throws the rest away. Nothing is stretched, nothing is padded, and black bars cannot appear because nothing is ever added.

Why use ReelNab

No black bars, ever

The frame is cut, never padded. There is nothing to letterbox with.

No stretching

Faces keep their proportions. The aspect ratio changes by removing picture, not by squeezing it.

Movable frame

The keep area starts in the middle and can be dragged anywhere along the frame.

Rotation aware

Clips shot on a phone with a rotation flag are cropped against the picture you actually see.

Audio kept

The sound track is carried over unchanged.

Private

Files are processed in a private temp folder with a random name and deleted within minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Will I get black bars?

No. This tool only removes picture, it never adds any, so there is nothing for bars to be made of.

Is the video stretched to fit?

No. The shape changes by cutting away the parts outside the new frame, so proportions stay correct.

Can I choose which part is kept?

Yes. Drag the frame in the preview or move the Position slider. The window keeps the full height (or width) and moves along the other axis.

Which shape should I pick?

9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. 1:1 for a square feed post. 16:9 for YouTube and anything watched on a desktop.

Does cropping re-encode the video?

Yes, it has to: the picture itself changes. The clip is encoded once at high quality.

What is the largest file I can upload?

Up to 1 GB and 60 minutes per upload. Mark one or several stretches on the timeline, for example 10 seconds from the start, 10 from the middle and 5 from the end: they are cropped and joined in order into one clip.
